I just bought my first baby horse she is 5 months old and is a palomino quarter horse. I think I'm going to name her Zippity. It has always been a dream of mine to learn how to train a horse. Since I can remember I have always wanted a horse. My grandfather had horses and I would spend summers with him ridding. When we passed a horse my grandpa would ask me what color it was, and that's when I my education about horses began. I treasure those memories I have with my grandpa. He is still alive but he has Alzheimer's for about 10 yrs now. I wish that he could have been there with me when I went to go look that this cute little filly.
I got my first horse when I was 18 a neighbor had this cute little Arabian mare that he didn't want any more, so he offered her to me for free. I only had her a short time because I meet the guy of my dreams and married him. I sold my horse to help put my husband through pharmacy school, 8 years later after he graduated we bought our first home with horse property. I then got my next horse a 20 year old buckskin quarter horse. She used to belong to my uncle, so I have know this horse most of her life, and have spent many happy hours ridding her. I got her for free too. Her name is ginger, I still have her and am still making wonderful memories with her. She is getting old and I know sooner then later she will not be ride able. I was looking through some horse ads when I found this cute little filly for 200.00. I went at looked at her and fell in love.
I want to keep a journal about my first time working with a young horse. So as I work with her I will blog and take pictures of our time spent together both growing.
You want me to be honest so here it is... I got a little tear in my eye. Your post includes everything I hoped it would and I am excited to share in your blog, pictures, writing, and memories!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear all about your adventures. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your beginning. Looking forward to the story of the first time you saw her. What you were feeling and what the owners had to say. You need to tell about the ride out there and your long night after you bought her. Don't forget Ginger. Happy writing and here's to you and Zip.
